Job Summary
The David Eccles School of Business is seeking a Career Advancement
Manager to lead and enhance a comprehensive and innovative career
coaching program for students and alumni of our three part-time MBA
programs: Executive MBA (Weekend), Professional MBA (Evening), and
MBA Online. The role includes overseeing program management,
partnering with an external coaching vendor and team to ensure the
delivery of effective coaching in areas such as career advancement,
leadership development, job search strategy, and
entrepreneurship.
The ideal candidate will bring an entrepreneurial mindset, a strong
background in executive and career coaching, and a deep
understanding of career pathways, professional development
challenges, and hiring practices across industries. This individual
will also support the execution of a relationship development
strategy designed to expand employment opportunities for students
and alumni by providing career coaching, promoting employer
connections, facilitating networking and recruiting events, and
aligning candidates with professional opportunities.
Responsibilities
Program Management and Development Manage relationship with
external coaching vendor to ensure a productive partnership,
adherence to service level agreements, high coaching satisfaction,
and accurate tracking of coaching usage, sessions, and student
outcomes (goal achievement).
Collaborate with the vendor to expand services and online
resources, while ensuring robust participation in anonymous
coaching satisfaction surveys.
Maintain alignment between coaching data and Salesforce records to
ensure accurate reporting.
Partner with part-time MBA program teams to address student needs
or issues identified through coaching interactions.
Build and maintain relationships with key contacts across the
Eccles School and the University of Utah to expand career services,
support resources, and job opportunities for students and
alumni.
Marketing and Communications Collaborate with program directors and
the marketing team to position the Career Advancement benefit as a
key value proposition in recruiting strategies and program
marketing.
Support the part-time MBA teams in communicating and selling the
value of career services during admissions and student engagement
activities.
Proactively promote the Career Advancement Center to students and
alumni through a variety of media channels, including webinars,
class presentations, Canvas program courses, program brochures,
email communications, and events.
Relationship Management (Executive MBA Focus) Proactively build and
maintain relationships with Executive MBA students and
coaching-eligible alumni to encourage engagement with career
coaching and progress toward career goals.
Serve as the primary point of contact for career services support,
coaching introductions, and career-related resources.
Actively engage with students during class days (Fridays and
Saturdays, every other week) during breaks and lunch to promote
services and build rapport.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of
education can be substituted for two years of related work
experience). Four to six years of progressively more responsible
management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department's
area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw
conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated
leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes
in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to
ensure the smooth operation of department.
Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of
employment may be required.
Master's degree in a related area may be preferred.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the

Preferences
The ideal candidate will have: Bachelor's degree
Private sector leadership experience and engagement with senior
executives with people management track record (coaching,
development, performance, results).
Knowledge of private, public and non-profit sectors and dynamics of
the marketplace
Professional executive coaching (performance and behavioral)
experience with C-level executives, senior management, and
high-potential leaders
Experience coaching and developing senior executives and middle
management, and individual performers (exempt professional staff)
to build leadership and management competency, advance internally,
and achieve measurable business results.
Program or product management experience with a track record of
measurable results
Preference for and track record of successful relationship
building
Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative
working relationships with vendor, variety of students at all
career levels including diverse students and alumni, faculty and
Eccles/ university colleagues
A client-oriented attitude, fantastic customer service ethic, and
high expectations for quality.
A warm and friendly personality and a highly developed sense of
empathy and humor.
Preferences: An MBA or other business master's degree is
preferred
8+ years of post-college relationship management and leadership
experience, preferably in a corporate setting
The ability to work independently in a dynamic, entrepreneurial
environment
Demonstrated success in prospect and client/ student engagement
with strong results in motivating people to take action
Private sector track record of measurable, bottom-line business
results
Demonstrated knowledge of the dynamics and challenges of the
business marketplace
Approach responsibilities of position proactively in a
self-sufficient way
Experience with Salesforce a plus

schedule adaptation, to attend student-facing events.This job is
considered "essential." Therefore, it is required that the employee
work on campus, in person.
