sector is seeking a Director of Engineering 1 -Chief of Staff in
our SDS Division. This leadership role will be located in Roy, Utah

What You’ll Get To Do: The SDS Office of Chief Engineer (OCE) is
seeking a strategic, execution-focused Chief of Staff to serve as
the trusted right-hand and force multiplier to the SDS Chief
Engineer. In this high-impact role, you will partner directly with
the Chief Engineer to drive strategy, operational excellence, and
cross-functional alignment. You’ll translate ambitious technical
roadmaps into disciplined execution, remove obstacles, and ensure
our world-class engineering teams deliver at the speed and scale
our programs demand. This is a strategic leadership position for
someone who loves solving complex organizational challenges and
driving engineering execution with technical rigor and discipline.
Essential Functions: Partner closely with the SDS Chief Engineer to
define, communicate, and execute technical roadmaps, strategic
priorities, and organizational rhythm. Act as the Chief’s force
multiplier: monitor project health, surface risks early, remove
roadblocks, frame complex decisions, and drive flawless
follow-through. Foster alignment around the Chief’s vision,
promoting world-class engineering excellence and resolving
conflicts to maintain a high-performing culture. Oversee daily
operations of the OCE including workflow coordination, resource
allocation, and priority resolution to ensure smooth execution
across teams. Serve as a key strategic advisor to the Chief,
synthesizing information from across the division and sector to
inform strategic decision-making. Key integrator, facilitating
information flow between the Chief, engineering teams, and internal
/ external stakeholders. Lead high-priority engineering
initiatives—including organizational design, process improvements,
and build efficiency to deliver measurable impact. Help develop,
drive, and track progress of engineering goals and milestones and
optimize for a large-scale organization. Provide real-time insight
of projects, boards, technical baseline, risks, and dependencies.
Serve as a confidant and honest broker, providing unbiased feedback
to the Chief on team dynamics, morale, and organizational issues in
a large division where direct oversight is challenging. Prepare
executive-level briefings, presentations, and strategic materials
for internal leadership and external stakeholders. Identify
operational gaps and personally implement solutions using data,
automation, and workflow improvements to accelerate execution.

standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows
employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take
every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive
relocation assistance package. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s
degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)
and a minimum 10 years of supporting U.S. Government contracts and
customers and/or project management in other industries Must have 5
years experience leading functional or program execution teams Must
have 5 years in a formal engineering management / technical
leadership experience Active Secret clearance adjudicated within
the last 5 years with ability to obtain SAP access Ability to
travel 25% of the time These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Prior chief of staff responsibilities Prior experience interfacing
with prime contractor site leads and DoD leadership personnel
Demonstrated success leading teams/and or organizations to achieve
a common goal Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to effectively work within a team environment Active DoD
TS/SCI clearance and applicable SAP accesses Primary Level Salary
Range: $176,100.00 - $264,100.00 The above salary range represents
a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number
of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope
and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's
experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime,
shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base
pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions
as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees
in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long
Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety
of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and
disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid
time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business. The
