Job Description Job Description Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Sr Accountant with payroll experience to support our Finance Department. This position is responsible for overseeing complex accounting tasks and ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of all payroll operations and financial records. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures, excellent administrative skills, and a commitment to confidentiality. Requirements: Key Responsibilities: General Accounting & Financial Reporting: Manage the full-cycle accounting process, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance. Prepare and post accurate and timely journal entries for monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures. Assist in reconciling balance sheet and income statement accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies. Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits (e.g., financial statement audit, 401(k) audit), providing necessary documentation and support. Ensure all financial and payroll activities comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), as well as internal controls and policies. Payroll Administration: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations Oversee and/or process bi-weekly for all employees, ensuring accurate and timely compensation, including wages, bonuses, and deductions. Maintain and update detailed payroll records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy. Assist with employee benefits, including health insurance and retirement plans, and coordinate enrollments and contributions. Address and resolve employee inquiries regarding paychecks, tax withholdings, and benefits promptly and professionally. Qualifications and Skills · Education: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required · Experience: 2-3 years of previous experience as a payroll accountant or a similar role, with significant hands-on experience in payroll processing. · Technical Skills: · Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and payroll systems (e.g., Paylocity). · Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, V-lookups, data analysis). · Soft Skills: · Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. · Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. · Ability to handle highly confidential information with integrity and discretion. · Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
